Victorian Rose Needlearts tells us: "Nine year old Alice Smith stitched this magnificent English sampler in the year 1841. With its intricate rose border and pastoral scene, it is a breathtaking 311 wide x 515 high. The chart is 24 pages and stitches used are cross over one and two, French/Colonial knots, backstitch, and straight stitch".

The model was stitched on 40 count Lakeside Linen Pecan Butter using DMC cotton floss.
