Hands Across the Sea Samplers tell us: "This reproduction of Sally Stanfield 1841 is dedicated to "Sally" a friend who was the inspiration behind the original sampler's acquisition for Nicola's private collection."
This is also a lovely companion piece to Mary Clayton sampler previously released.
The chart reads "Let this great truth by all be understood; That all the pious duties which we owe Our parents, friends, our country, and our God, The Seeds of every virtue here below From education fist, and early culture flow."
Stitch count is 221 W x 207 H.
The model was stitched on 36 count Straw hand dyed Zweigart Edinburgh linen from Weeks Dye Works and stitched with 1 strand of Au Ver à Soie d’Alger silks. A DMC Cotton floss conversion based on 2 strands on 36 count is included. If stitching on 46 count linen or higher, you may wish to substitute 100.3 to execute the Queen stitches and verse, in place of 2 Silk skeins.
We have offered a few different linen count choices for the Straw Edinburgh from Weeks Dye Works, including 36 count, 40 count and 46 count.
The sampler has been reproduced using the mellowed colours found on the front of the sampler today.
