We are pleased to present to you Maria Ewin – our Queen of the May for the year 2023.

Maria Ewin was love at first sight.  She arrived in February 2021 and brought sunshine on a cold winter’s day.  Maria’s colours are beautifully preserved and she was reproduced using the colours on the front of the sampler. "

Maria was an excellent stitcher.  Her execution was precise and accurate.  It amazes me that at the young age of 11 Maria took such great care with her work.  My impression of Maria is that she was a very organized and disciplined girl.  She shows great attention to detail in the way that she matched her top and bottom borders and then also matched her side borders with perfect symmetry.

Stitch count is 271 W x 329 H.

Design sizes (fabric cut sizes are approximate):
•    32 count Linen 16.94" x 20.56" ~ fabric cut size 36" x 27"
•    36 count Linen 15.06" x 18.28" ~ fabric cut size 36" x 27"
•    40 count Linen 13.55" x 16.45" ~ fabric cut size 18" x 27"   - includes a minimum of 2" framing margin on sides
•    46 count Linen 11.78" x 14.30" ~ fabric cut size 18" x 27"

Model was stitched on 46ct Parchment hand dyed linen from Fiber on a Whim and stitched with a palette of 24 colours of Soie d'Alger silks. We have suggested a few alternate counts and threads for you to choose from.

This Reproduction is worked mainly in cross stitch over two threads of linen. The verse is worked in cross stitch over one thread of linen. This sampler is suitable for confident beginners through to advanced needleworkers. This sampler is not suited to stitching on Aida due to the 1 over 1 verse section.
