Mary Allison ~ A Scottish Sampler from Priscilla's Pocket ~ Nashville 2017

This design was released at the Nashville Needlework Market in March 2017.

Priscilla's Pocket tells us: "We fell in love with this unusual Scottish sampler immediately. worked on 26 count linen with colorful wool threads, this sampler was stitched in the small village of Forgandenny Perthshire, Scotland.

Mary Allison was born in 1820. She married James Kay. In addition to the brightly colored alphabets and animal and flower motifs, Mary stitched several sets of initials on her sampler, some in black, which customarily indicated that the person had passed. Hearts between initials indicate a marriage. Additionally, there are three other sets of initials. The remaining name is Catharine Turpie, but unfortunately we have yet to unlock her story."

The stitch count is 165 x 224. Stitches include cross stitch, back stitch, point eyelet and four sided stitch.

The model was stitched on 35 count hand dyed Straw linen from Weeks Dye Works using Gloriana Florimell hand dyed silk floss. Please check the boxes above to add these items to your order.
