From the cover: "This charming little spot sampler was worked totally in Queen Stitch using silk thread on an almost gauze-like linen. The only clues to its maker are the two S's in each of the lower corner flower pots. Very little is known about this sampler but comparisons to other samplers similar in style and materials indicate a probable Dutch origin, circa 1750.
