This sampler is from the Groningen area of Holland. Between 1800 and 1880 samplers from this area were worked in black silk and included several similar qualities including symmetrically arranged potted carnation and tulip motifs, large initials, crowned letter G, borders with corner motifs, deer , and birds.

Kit contains hand dyed silk thread, 40 count linen, needle, chart, detailed instructions and colorphotograph. Stitched in cross stitch.
