Nicola tells us "I am so thrilled to present to my stitching sisters my finish of the reversible band sampler “Bathya”.
Every single stitch has been a joy. To achieve a truly reversible finish much thought and planning has had to go into each band. It has been like a jigsaw puzzle. A brain challenge !! However, once the stitch path was worked out my needle flew.
This beautiful reversible band sampler has been reproduced in Silks based on the vibrant colours found on the front of the sampler today." The reversible model was stitched over 2 and 3 threads and includes two different versions of a reversible cross stitch as well as a double back stitch and diagonal back stitch. Other stitches used include stem stitch, double sided italian stitch, alternating double back stitch in groups of three, detached button stitch, French knots, four sided stitch, satin stitch, eyelet stitch, running and Holbein stitch.
model was stitched on a hand dyed linen closest in colour to DMC 3782
with Silk threads. We suggest stitching on Vintage Light Examplar from
Lakeside Linens. If you choose to stitch your sampler with 100/3, you
may also want
to order Soie d'Alger for the satin stitch areas. It will give
better coverage and more shine than the 100/3 while the 100/3 will
give crisp double running and detail stitches.
A DMC conversion is included in the chart.
Bathya is suitable for advanced needle workers however she is not beyond a determined intermediate stitcher. Reversible samplers require thought and forward planning. There is a comprehensive online tutorial/workshop available which will assist you. Please check the boxes above to add the chart, linen and threads to your order.
