This Bristol Orphanage sampler is one of a series of “Little Gems” that are available as a PDF download from Hands Across the Sea Samplers.
Nicola tells us "With the help of the meticulous records that the George Müller Orphanage kept, we are able to piece together Clara and Maude’s story and we share that story with you in the historical information contained within the download. This sampler, worked by the Pickernell sisters is rare, we are only aware of one other sampler stitched by sisters."
Within this download you will receive:
Graph 1 ~ A thirty-page colour chart.
Graph 2 ~ A thirty-page black and white symbol chart.
Graph 3 ~ A one-page colour chart (intended to be viewed/used on your tablet, phone, laptop or computer).
Graph 4 ~ A one-page black and white symbol chart (intended to be viewed/used on your tablet, phone, laptop or computer).
Stitch count is 433 W x 441 H.
Clara and Maude’s stunning, monochrome sampler has been reproduced with Soie Surfine by Au Ver à Soie.
The model was stitched on 53/63ct Legacy Linen in Sycamore Seedpod. For alternative counts we would suggest 45 ct Foxtail Millet from Legacy Linen, 37 ct Corn Tassel from Legacy Linen and30 ct Mariner's Map from Legacy Linen.
If you are working on an uneven linen such as 53/63ct, we would recommend that you orientate your linen so that the higher count is on the horizontal for this particular sampler.
The sisters stitched their sampler with cross stitch over two strands of linen.
You can choose either linen, Linen Aida, or Aida in the count and colour that appeals to you.
Please check the boxes above to have the chart, linen and threads added to your order.
