Beth tells us "I, like many of you, have long been fascinated with samplers that depict Adam and Eve. Wanting to design one of my own that gives a nod to those created in the past, I also wanted a fresh, whimsical version that wouldn’t be just another look-alike. Suddenly my Adam and Eve are teensy little fairy-people living in a flower bed! And that is often how my designs go; the idea is mine, but I soon lose control of the direction, as the sampler takes on a life of its own."
The quote was taken from a middle-of-the-19th-century sampler, and reads:
Still let Thy grace my life direct
From evil guard my way
And in temptations Fatal path
Permit me not to Stray
