Tracy tells us "The little owl, Athene noctua, is the traditional representation of
Athena, the goddess of wisdom in Greek mythology. This design reflects
the imprint on the ancient silver tetradrachm coin that was used in
Athens and all of the Greek empire around 450 BC. Little owls (that is
really their species name) inhabit temperate parts of Europe, Asia, and
Africa, but the Athenian coin is much harder to find."
Stitch count is 81 W x 81 H.
Model was stitched on 32 count
"Linen" linen by Weeks Dye Works and stitched with threads from The Gentle Arts and DMC Cotton floss.
