Vickie tells us "A number of elements indicate its origin as Scottish—the initials, the small table with fruit, the presence of a lion, the stylized peacock and the massive stag. However, without an age or location, we’ll never know its origin for sure. That said, we opted to include missing stitches and to avoid her propensity for alternating over-three and over-two stitching, and some half-Cross Stitches. Because the sampler is conserved, we did not remove it from the frame; rather we opted to brighten some of the muted colors to create contrast and demarcate hues that had faded over time. We did leave in the quirky spacing on the cartouche at the top and the wonky plant to the left of the house."
