This is an accurate reproduction of a Norfolk, England sampler held in the Queenstown Sampler Collection.
Queenstown Sampler Designs tells us: "M. A. Beats 1833 is an appealing sampler. The set of three linked octagons with the makers’ name & date tells us she is a classic sampler from Norwich, Norfolk, England. The checkered flower baskets are typical as well. Miss Beats worked three alphabets, a set of numbers and surrounded all with a strawberry vine border. Her crisp dividing bands invite you to read part of The Universal Prayer by Alexander Pope (1688-1744). This poem is found on many 18th and 19th century schoolgirl samplers."
The stitch count is 247h x 211w.
The model was stitched on 40 count Antique White Newcastle linen using silk floss from Needlepoint Silk.
