G.Hubbard 1889 from Red Barn Samplers ~ Nashville 2023

    Finding the person behind an antique sampler can be challenging. Who was G. Hubbard? Where did she come from? Sometimes clues present themselves in ways you least imagine!

    Grace Ellen Hubbard was born in 1878 in Wells, Somerset, England, the second of five children. She stitched her small sampler at the age of 11 while attending Holy Trinity School in Whitstable. She died on July 9, 1965, at the age of 86, having never married and having no children.

    Stitch count is 86 W X 87 H.

    Model was stitched on 40 count Thornfield linen from Needle and Flax and stitched with silk floss. Thread conversions are also included in the chart.

    It is suitable for needleworkers of all abilities and contains no speciality stitches.
