Victorian Rose Needlearts tells us: "A lush garden of Eden surrounds the central figures dressed in folk costume. The sampler is rich in flora and fauna, including birds, owls, rabbits, and dogs. The inspiring verse is an adaptation of a hymn by Charles Wesley from the 18th century. The sampler is surrounded by a carnation border."
The verse reads:
"A charge to keep I have.
A God to glorify. save.
A never dying soul to
a rest to gain on high.
