Thea tells us "Sewing was a talent required of every woman before the 20th century and a major part of a woman’s work was spent weaving, cutting and stitching linens and clothing for their families. They created dozens of sewing tools to make the job easier. This project features a Victorian style pincushion replica, a copy of an antique spooled pincushion dated circa the mid to late 1800’s. I’ve used delicious silks and overdyes of willow greens, fuschia, antique gold, and rose, with some sparkling beadwork. I’ve included several other stitched pieces; a typical pinkeep with a different design on each side, an embroidered strawberry emery, and beeswax pendant. All three items will hang from the pincushion with overdyed silk ribbons. This project will result in a beautiful and practical needlework tool that could have been used by the people who lived in the Victorian era.
